Description
Graduate Agricultural Scientist – GHG Modelling & Carbon Intelligence📍 Cork HQ | Full-time | Graduate Entry Turn agricultural science into global climate impact. Climeaction is an award-winning, B Corp certified climate action company with offices in Cork and Boston. Our VSAg platform is a carbon intelligence tool for agricultural systems — helping producers, agribusinesses and supply chains measure, manage and reduce their Scope 3 emissions at field level. As we scale VSAg globally, we're looking for a scientifically sharp graduate to join the team and help build the models that sit at its core. This is a rare opportunity for an early-career scientist to see their work embedded directly into a live software product used across multiple agricultural systems worldwide. What you'll do Research, develop and validate greenhouse gas emission models for a range of agricultural systems — including tillage, beef, dairy, pigs, poultry and mixed farming — across multiple geographies and regulatory frameworks Translate complex agronomic and emissions science into clean, structured model logic that can be integrated into the VSAg platform by our development team Work closely with the VSAg Consultants & software developers to ensure models are accurately implemented, tested and maintained as the platform evolves Stay current with IPCC methodologies, national GHG inventory frameworks and emerging carbon accounting standards relevant to agriculture Support the development of new VSAg modules as we expand into new regions, commodities and supply chain use cases Contribute to the scientific credibility of VSAg — including documentation, methodology notes and engagement with clients or certifying bodies where required What we're looking for A degree in Agricultural Science, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Agri-environmental Science or a closely related discipline A strong understanding of greenhouse gas emissions in agricultural systems — whether from academic study, a thesis, placement or early career experience Comfort working with data, spreadsheets and quantitative modelling; prior exposure to programming or scripting (Python, R or similar) is an advantage Curiosity and rigour in equal measure — this role demands both scientific precision and a willingness to learn fast Good written communication skills — you'll need to explain complex methodology clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences A genuine interest in climate action and the role of agriculture in the transition What we offer A full-time, permanent role from day one — not an internship or fixed-term contract Direct involvement in a live, growing software product with global reach Close collaboration with an experienced cross-functional team spanning agronomy, software development and carbon consulting Funded training and continuous professional development Company pension scheme Competitive graduate salary with clear progression as the role and your expertise grow The chance to build a specialism at the intersection of agricultural science and climate technology — a field that is only going to grow in importance We are committed to building an inclusive team and actively welcome applicants of all backgrounds, abilities, orientations, faiths and identities. We are not engaging recruitment agencies for this role. Thank you.
Responsibilities
Research, develop, and validate greenhouse gas emission models for various agricultural systems to be integrated into the VSAg platform. Collaborate with consultants and software developers to ensure scientific accuracy and maintain model logic as the platform evolves.
