POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Animal Production Officer plays a key part in supporting livestock production by collecting and
analysing samples to assist with supplementation planning and seasonal adjustments. It involves providing
customer support for DIT’s uDOSE™ and IoT devices, coordinating supplement delivery, and assisting with
on-farm mixing when needed. The position also supports R&D trials by monitoring and collecting data,
while ensuring accurate record-keeping for accounts, inventory, and asset management.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Collecting water, pasture, dung or blood samples required to assist with the decision-making
process of livestock production for DIT customers.
- Support the company’s nutritionist and lab technician, analysing and interpreting results from
the above sampling to assist with supplementation planning and adjustments during the year
in response to changes in seasonal conditions and or production goals.
- Assisting the R&D team in any trial work through the monitoring and collection of data for
reporting.
- Developing a thorough working knowledge of the uDOSE™, IoT devices and the uHUB
dashboard to support DIT Customers
- Arranging supply and delivery of supplement including assistance with mixing of product on
farm if required.
- Accurately completing paperwork for the company’s accounts, inventory and asset
management.
- Reporting deliveries of product to the accounts department to ensure prompt and accurate
invoicing
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Ability to work independently and remotely across rural regions for extended periods of time
- Some form of Ag science/Ag business tertiary qualification (essential)
- Background in ruminant animal nutrition (preferred)
- Excellent personal presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively
- A competent understanding of basic computer skills
- Manual Drivers Licence (essential)
- HR Licence (advantageous)
- Forklift Licence (preferred)
