Department: Student Success Support Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: The Graduate Assistant supports the Honors College Futures Hub’s mission to help honors students make the most of their honors experience on campus and plan for their life post-degree. The graduate assistant will develop and implement original resources and programming for students. After receiving training in the areas of study abroad, research, and/or pre-professional preparation, the graduate assistant will conduct their own 1:1 appointments, application review sessions, and workshops. In addition to their responsibilities assisting honors students, this position will also manage communication platforms and prepare student data for analysis, ensuring students and staff have access to high-quality information to help both achieve their goals. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills, organization, initiative, teamwork experience, and a commitment to academic excellence within a diverse learning community. Funding is available for professional development, including the opportunity to attend a professional conference during this position’s tenure as graduate assistant. The package also includes the option of purchasing health insurance through the Graduate School. Work hours vary, with some evening and weekend work, but the expectation is a 20-hour work week. All Honors College GAs must maintain a 3.0 GPA in graduate school to maintain their position. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the start of employment Student organizational and leadership experience in extracurricular or other undergraduate activities Willingness and ability to work occasional evenings and weekends Preferred Qualifications: Experience with study abroad and honors research Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong communication skills, both written and oral Organization and attention to detail Demonstrated ability to take initiative on projects Willingness to learn new software systems Familiarity with Excel and a willingness to learn more skills as necessary Additional Information: Graduate students are subject to background checks. Salary Information: This is a 9-month, 0.50 assistantship with an annual stipend of $16,000. A tuition waiver for graduate courses is included (student must pay applicable University fees).
