The Role We’re looking for a motivated Graduate Civil Engineer to join our Roads & Highways team in Sunshine Coast. This role offers hands-on experience across project delivery, technical design and professional collaboration, supported by experienced engineers who are invested in your development. As a Graduate Engineer, you’ll work under supervision to support the successful delivery of projects while building your technical and professional capability. Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to: Apply project management principles to deliver assigned tasks on time, within scope and budget Assist with detailed design, analysis and technical documentation Use standard engineering and scientific methods to solve problems Work on defined components of larger projects under guidance Follow document management, quality, safety and environmental requirements Proactively manage your time and seek feedback to continuously improve your work Actively participate in team meetings, training and development activities Support Senior Engineers with designs, calculations, reports and specifications Contribute to proposals and other project documentation Develop an understanding of commercial and financial aspects of projects Apply relevant legislation, standards and professional ethics in your work Build your technical knowledge and chosen engineering specialisation Help clarify client and stakeholder needs to support effective solutions Work collaboratively, valuing the input of others and knowing when to seek assistance Build strong internal and external professional relationships About You Suitable applicants will be/have: A recent graduate in Engineering (or soon to graduate) Strong communication and teamwork skills A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn Good time management and attention to detail In interest in developing both technical expertise and commercial awareness What We Offer Hands-on experience on real infrastructure projects Mentoring and support from experienced engineers Exposure to industry standards, systems, and best practices A collaborative and professional team environment A strong foundation for a long-term career in engineering To find out more about SMEC, please visit our careers page at www.smec.com/careers Link to benefits: http://www.smec.com/en_au/careers/your-career-with-SMEC All recruitment activities go through our Recruitment & Talent function and currently, this role doesn’t require agency input.
