KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering/Engineering Geology
  • Great attitude and ability to learn & work in a team environment
  • Good computer skills
  • Good written & verbal communication skills
  • Ability to pass a ‘fit to work’ medical & regular drug and alcohol screening
  • The position involves manual labour

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Graduate Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for the testing, sampling and interpreting of soil and rock materials to produce geotechnical assessments and reports. You will also be required to work in a team environment alongside other employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To liaise with the Geotechnical Manager & Technical Manager to schedule daily/weekly work requirements
  • Undertake data management including logs, gINT and management of Jira
  • Assist with digital data capture and processing as directed
  • Undertake engineering test pits using hand augers, backhoes & excavators
  • Supervise drilling using 4wd & truck mounted drilling rigs. Perform logging and sampling of soil material.
  • Undertake in-situ geotechnical testing such as dynamic cone penetrometer testing, hand shear vane testing, pocket penetrometer testing & plate load tests
  • Prepare geotechnical reports for review by the Geotechnical Manager and submission to the client
  • To undertake testing of soil & rock in accordance with their relevant Australian Standards, RMS & other relevant standards as required
  • Preparation of paperwork for field testing & laboratory testing
