SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors Degree in a highly relevant major
  • 1 to 3 years’ professional experience;
  • Demonstrated competence with FLIKE, TUFLOW, MIKE and QGIS would be an advantage
  • Familiarity with Australian and NSW industry guidance
  • Experience using Microsoft office programs.
  • Previous exposure to flood modelling projects would be an advantage

Responsibilities

We are looking for a full time Graduate Environmental Consultant for our office in Sydney to work with and complement our flood modelling staff. Primarily the role will involve using hydraulic and hydrologic modelling tools to contribute to flood studies and flood impact risk assessments, as well as contributing to environmental impact assessments. You will also use QGIS to undertake GIS analysis and prepare maps and figures, and FLIKE to complete flood frequency analysis reviews and assessments. You will assist other technical staff as directed both on project work and tender preparation.

  • Using QGIS to analyse catchment characteristics and prepare flood modelling inputs and mapping of results;
  • carrying out environmental impact assessments and flood impact assessments for a wide range of development projects;
  • Use TUFLOW to build flood models and apply a range of validation methods to check results;
  • Use RORB and WBNM to build hydrologic models and apply current industry guidelines (Australian Rainfall and Runoff);
  • Use Flike to complete Flood Frequency Analysis to inform design peak flow estimates; and
  • Contribute to the preparation of fee proposals and tender documentation
