Job Description
AECOM is searching for a Graduate Geotechnician. This position can be based out of one of our offices in Ontario.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs a variety of tasks in support of engineering office and field staff.
  • Complete testing and assessment of various construction materials including soil, rock, concrete, grout, asphalt, geotextiles.
  • Attend projects experiencing problematic ground conditions, perform measurements and record observations. Liaison with project engineering staff to determine cost effective, realistic solutions.
  • Complete granular and soils material sampling,.
  • Coordinate with utility locators, sub-contractor representatives and other on-site personnel
  • Assist with mobilization and demobilization of project related equipment.
  • Filing project-related notes/drawings according to project requirements
  • Assist with preparation of field instructions Health and Safety plans.
  • Assist with general data entry, analysis and preparing documents.
  • Collection of environmental samples (soil and water) for chemical assessment in support of construction activities
  • Assist with other environmental field scopes of work as required.
  • Communicate with Senior Engineering Staff as to any field observations or equipment needs during project work.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Diploma in Civil or Geological Engineering Technology with emphasis on Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Availability to travel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Good understanding of soils
  • Past experience in geotechnical drilling (Soil logging, insitu site testing, rock core logging) Would be a definite asset.
