Description: The Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme (GBAYES) is a joint initiative between the HKSAR Government, CLP Holdings Limited and other major companies in Hong Kong. We support you by providing hands-on work experience through interesting, and well-designed internship projects with a wide range of opportunities. Key responsibilities: Identify and analyze the key factors influencing spot electricity prices. By examining market data such as demand, supply, weather conditions, coal prices, and regulatory changes, the study seeks to provide data insights that can help market participants make informed decisions. Responsible for carrying out data mining work to identify alpha signals, with the goal of improving electricity price model forecast performance. Assist in researching advanced ML/AI models to quantify the risk of different trading decisions. Assist in the collection and quality evaluation of market and weather data. Assist in building and maintaining small-scale data pipelines and visualization dashboards. Assist in researching and back-testing various trading strategies. Requirements: Must be a Hong Kong resident aged 18 to 29 with legally employable to work in both Mainland China and Hong Kong. Willing to be stationed in Hong Kong and Qianhai, Shenzhen during the 18-month contract period. A recognized University Degree in Electrical Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Finance or a related analytical field. Strong statistical and mathematical skills & ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets. Proficient with programming languages, such as Python/R, SQL is a must. Knowledge of Azure cloud platform and data bricks for data storage, processing, and machine learning is a plus. Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is a plus. Good communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
