DO YOU WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO YOUNG PEOPLE’S FUTURES?
Have you seen the value of higher education and now want to promote this to school/college students?
Are you interested in gaining experience on an exciting and innovative regional programme?
This graduate internship offers an invaluable opportunity to work as an Engagement Assistant as part of the Higher Education Progression Partnership South Yorkshire (HeppSY) team. HeppSY works across South Yorkshire and Northeast Derbyshire to encourage more children, young people, and adults to consider higher education opportunities.
WHAT EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS DOES A GRADUATE INTERN NEED?
The ability and confidence to engage an audience of young people is essential, alongside excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills; a positive and flexible approach; and the ability to work accurately and independently.
If you are offered this post, you will be subject to an enhanced with barred lists check by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working at Sheffield Hallam University but its relevance to the duties of the post will need to be assessed before the appointment is confirmed.
For this job we particularly welcome applications from minority ethnic applicants who are underrepresented in this area/ this type of job at Sheffield Hallam.
The role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route so if you are an international applicant, you will need to ensure you have an appropriate visa to evidence the necessary right to work in the UK.
A graduate internship is a time-limited, structured work experience which also includes an element of training. It provides work experience and skills development that can enhance your employability and career prospects, helping you transition into the world of work and prepare you for future employment.
In the interests of fairness and equality of opportunity, our internships will not normally exceed a 12 month period; therefore you will not be eligible to apply for consecutive internships that exceed this duration.
Lead the delivery of HeppSY’s programmes and assist with the coordination and evaluation of the initiatives. You will also plan and prepare materials and activities, work with staff and students across the region’s primary and secondary schools, provide accurate and impartial information to targeted young people, lead student ambassadors, create social media content and deliver presentations in addition to related administrative work including data gathering, record keeping and report writing.
