Description
What you'll do Creative engineering input, research, conducting trials, and challenging the norm. Day-to-day the application of CAD design, close-form calculations, finite element analysis (FEA) and prototyping skills in order to realise various types of opto-mechanical systems and ensure optical performance across environments. Ensure opto-mechanical designs meet space-grade standards (e.g., MIL‑STD, ECSS), produce and maintain GD&T-controlled drawings, procedures, and Bills of Materials under formal configuration control. Perform part level simulations such as modal, static loads, thermal, and surface figure error Utilise a hands-on approach, be proactive and consistently help to progress product development in a multidisciplinary environment. Prototype building, testing, documenting and developing processes, and producing support documentation. Who you are 0-2 years full-time (internships, labs, formula student/rocketry/composites club). B.Eng/M.Eng in Mechanical, Optical, Aerospace Engineering or relevant field Interest in the high tech, aerospace, or space sectors Comfortable with Excel (or Python/MATLAB) for data reduction; PLM/ERP exposure a plus. Basic understanding of engineering drawings production for both in-house and external manufacturing Comfortable with commercial CAD packages (SolidWorks, NX, or similar) and simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, Femap, Nastran). Detail-oriented, organized, safety-minded; strong written reports; eager to learn; collaborative with manufacturing, quality, and design. Desirable Requirements/Technical Skills/Education: Exposure to space industry standards (ECSS/MIL-STD), CI/CD for mechanical releases, configuration control, and quality systems (ISO 9001 etc.) Knowledge of or keen interest in the space sector would be an advantage Experience with optics is a plus The ability to work under pressure and to meet required deadlines Problem-solving skills, solution focused and possess the ability to craft the appropriate approaches Ability to think analytically in a physics and engineering based problem space Interpersonal and team working skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Familiar with 3D printing of polymers and/or metals is advantageous What's in it for you Career Growth: Contribute to a world-class space-age communication program while developing your leadership skills in a state-of-the-art manufacturing environment Collaboration: Work with talented professionals across disciplines to drive impactful solutions Innovation: Be part of a team pioneering advancements in manufacturing engineering for cutting-edge FSO systems Work-Life Balance: Enjoy flexible work schedules and a comprehensive benefits package If you're ready to take your career to new heights and drive the future of space-age communication, apply now and join the MBRYONICS team as our Graduate Mechanical Design Engineer.
