About the role The Technology Development department comprises of diverse groups of curious, world class engineering specialists. We are experts in our fields, and we ensure Dyson products are on the edge of what’s possible. The department encompasses several groups – Product Performance, Acoustics, Technology Systems and Product Integration. This role resides within the Product Performance group, which provides technical analysis of hair appliance product performance, such as how well the product dries and styles hair. 1. Collaborate with a project team to deliver optimized hair style and drying performance in line with product vision. Establish the fundamental factors that contribute to performance. Establishing correlations between those identified factors to optimize and predict performance. Analyze and make recommendations from experimental tests or analytical assessments Design corresponding test plans to understand the fundamental contributing factors that drive the target performance metric. Write scripts for Phyton / Excel / Minitab / MATLAB analysis to create predictive models for performance. Propose design mitigations, recommendations to achieve hair style and dry performance targets Communicate well with the stakeholders, present work in a coherent well-documented manner. 2. Proactively assess risk and solve problems impacting hair style and drying performance for Haircare projects. Identify, characterize, and highlight risk in a clear and concise manner Formulate a good problem statement before devoting time to solving a problem. Assess the lower-level requirements that affect performance to ensure hair style and drying performance meets the claim target. Be a key contributor in assessment of performance trade-off as required 3. Take ownership of career development and aim for deeper understanding of the related disciplines involved in hair styling and drying performance. Develop technical competencies by active involvement in projects, self-learning, and training Be a contributor team member in helping the organization drive technical excellence and capability growth in delivering superior hair style and dry performance. 4. Actively challenge status quo and support improvement initiatives in various aspect of business. Identify and develop new opportunities/tools/methods with the aim of enhancing the performance, reliability, and time to market of Dyson products Ensure work is well document and in a state that can be referenced by all for future use. At least a bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical or Mechatronics. Applicants with training and exposure and product design and development is a plus. Fresh graduates with excellent academic results and related projects are also welcome. A good working knowledge of physics fundamentals and measurement and statistical analysis is preferred. Basic competency in Minitab, MATLAB, Python or Excel or other data acquisition/processing tool. Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills in English Ability to receive constructive feedback and coaching and respond appropriately.
