Working closely with our research teams, they provide strategic and operational financial support with budgets, planning and analysis, enabling us to achieve our mission - to improve the health and wellbeing of children through excellence in research. Due to internal promotions and team growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Project Accountant to join our passionate and customer focused Research Finance team, and partner with our researchers to meet all their financial needs. In this role your time will be spent on the financial management of various projects within a wide range of research areas. Working with a team of dedicated professionals, you will be mentored to develop skills in building & managing key relationships, best practice financial processes, and the provision of financial advice in a research environment. No two days will be the same in this varied role but typically your day-to-day tasks will include: Ensure new project cost centres are set up, and completed projects are closed and acquitted within funder timeframes. Regularly meeting with researchers to review projects and ensure they are tracking correctly against budget, and that system data accurately reflects progress to date. Preparation of journals for internal transfers of expenditure and service charges between projects, to ensure financial records are kept up to date. Ensuring project compliance with financial requirements of funding arrangements, organisational policies, and industry regulations. Upskilling and educating researchers in best practice financial management. Based at Perth Children’s Hospital in Nedlands, this full-time role will be offered on an ongoing basis. About You The ideal applicant will have a tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or another relevant discipline. The key to your success will be your demonstrated experience in cultivating meaningful relationships based on trust, along with: Experience in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Strong analytical skills, and a high level of attention to detail, including accurate data entry skills. Experience at working independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment. Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative working relationships with stakeholders and maintain them over time.
