Job Description
The Graduate Project Manager will support the successful delivery of all package activities. The role holder will assist with managing and coordinating key stakeholders and related parties in the development and delivery of a large scale rail project, including support throughout the design, planning, procurement, construction, and operations phases. The Graduate Project Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that project requirements align with the programme’s operational goals, sponsor expectations, and safety standards.
Qualifications

EXPERIENCE

  • Recent graduate with a degree in project management, engineering, construction, or a related field.
  • Exposure to project management activities, preferably with some knowledge of rail projects or projects of similar scale and complexity, is advantageous.
  • Basic understanding of commercial and financial aspects of project management, including contract management.
  • Experience in supporting teams and managing relationships with stakeholders is beneficial.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective dialogue between all parties involved.
  • Ability to support project and programme outcomes to ensure high-quality service.
  • Awareness of carbon and sustainability considerations in project planning is beneficial.

SKILLS

  • Fundamental project management skills to support the planning, execution, and completion of the project.
  • Ability to effectively engage with and manage relationships with various stakeholders, including customers, regulatory bodies, and internal teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate clear and consistent dialogue between all parties involved.
  • Proficiency in gathering, documenting, and analysing project requirements to ensure they align with customer and operational needs.
  • Basic understanding of identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with the project.

FORMAL EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrable academic qualifications (NFQ Level 4/5 working towards level 6 eg PMQ)
Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Support in managing the delivery of the project through various stages of the project lifecycle, from concept development to completion.
  • Support and attend meetings between the M100, M400 and M500 project teams to help ensure alignment on timelines, deliverables, and integration points.
  • Support the review of the interfacing series contracts (eg. M400 to M500 or M500 to M400) to ensure that they align with the overall objectives and requirements of the package.
  • Assist in overseeing and managing the delivery of Package activities.
  • Assist with monitoring, tracking, and reporting project expenditure, schedule, milestones, change and quality.
  • Support in identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with operational railway interfaces.
  • Support collaboration and integration among multidisciplinary programme teams.
  • Support compliance with planning and procurement policies across all related project activities.
  • Encourage continuous improvement and seize opportunities as they arise.
  • Perform additional tasks, activities, or other duties as may be required or assigned as part of the role.

Advantageous however not mandatory for this role:

  • Project Management Certification from the Project Management Institution i.e. PRINCE2, PMI, PMP, CAPM
