JOB TITLE: GRADUATE RESEARCH CONSULTANT - URBAN SOLUTIONS

At Hatch we are hiring Research Consultants for our Urban Solutions team in London and Manchester. Our Urban Solutions Team sits within our Consultancy business unit and is the economics, urban planning and real estate strategy arm of Hatch, delivering strategic economic development services to public and private clients. In the UK our Urban Solutions team works closely with our Environmental and Advisory groups, and the successful candidates will be encouraged to work on projects in these other divisions as well as Urban Solutions.
Are you passionate about making a positive difference for people, places and economies? Do you want to work with some of the best economists, strategists and urban regeneration consultants in the UK and internationally? Hatch has long experience of hiring great graduates. Many progress within our company into senior roles with opportunities to work on projects across the UK and internationally.
As a Graduate Research Consultant you will work as part of high-performing teams delivering innovative solutions to private and public sector clients. Recent projects have included supporting Aviva Investors to develop an innovative social value framework, an urban regeneration business case for Liverpool, and an impact assessment of Transport for London’s supply chain.
We offer the opportunity to work at the heart of the UK’s drive for a sustainable future. Our advice to our clients directly influences positive change, helps them to secure investment and capture the impacts of what they do. Our team works on a range of interesting, innovative, and inspiring consultancy projects, across sectors including employment, industrial sectors, skills, innovation, infrastructure, energy, land and property, culture, leisure and tourism.
Specifically, you will work in an integrated team making a vital contribution to the evidence, insights and advice we provide, with responsibilities including collecting and analysing economic and social data, reviewing policy and research, supporting project consultations, active participation in client, stakeholder, and team meetings, survey design, mapping, and economic and social impact modelling.
Hatch is committed to developing your capabilities and will give you great opportunities to use your skillset whilst working on some of the most important challenges facing the world.

Our consultants and analysts support our clients by:

  • Shaping the agenda: We provide forward thinking insights on city futures and place-making, working on strategies, visions, investment and delivery plans.
  • Justifying investment: We support our clients to secure investment in projects by preparing business cases and economic appraisals.
  • Delivering and measuring impacts: We support our clients to implement their programmes and understand their impacts through social value and economic impact assessments.
  • Reviewing what works: We identify lessons to improve performance and increase impacts through the evaluation of programmes, projects and organisations.

We are looking for an ideal candidate with:

  • A real appetite for understanding economic, social, environmental and technological change and how this will affect the future
  • A keen interest in leveraging technology and using intelligence, data and analysis to help our clients make informed choices about strategy and investment
  • A strong desire to learn and develop new skills and knowledge, and to test themselves in a dynamic consultancy environment
  • Enthusiasm for working as part of diverse consultancy teams with colleagues in the UK and internationally .
