Your next career opportunity The Department of Accounting invites applications for multiple new Graduate Researcher Academic Associate (GRAA) positions from current graduate researchers enrolled in a Doctor of Philosophy in Accounting. This is an exciting opportunity to build skills in teaching, communication and research within a world-class academic environment. As a GRAA, you will make meaningful contributions to the student learning experience and support the Department’s research activity while developing your own professional and academic capabilities. The role involves working closely with academic staff to deliver engaging, high-quality teaching in undergraduate accounting subjects and providing valuable research assistance to ongoing projects. You will be a passionate educator and emerging researcher who is enthusiastic about contributing to the success and reputation of the Department. Key responsibilities could include: Education Preparing for and delivering tutorials or other small-group teaching activities in undergraduate Accounting subjects Assisting in the development of teaching and assessment materials Providing academic support to students, maintaining resources on Canvas, and responding to student queries Participating in tutor training, teaching briefings, and departmental meetings Supporting subject-related administration and contributing to a positive learning environment Research Assisting with literature reviews, data collection and preliminary analysis Supporting the preparation of research instruments, such as surveys or coding data for empirical work Liaising with research participants and assisting with research ethics applications Supporting the preparation of publications, grant applications and research outputs Undertaking other research-related duties as directed In addition, you will be supported to complete a University-approved teaching development program, such as the Certificate in Small-Group Teaching (CSGT) or Melbourne Teaching Certificate (MTC), as well as participating in at least 30 hours of paid professional development during the term of the appointment. Who we are looking for: We are seeking motivated and capable applicants currently enrolled as a PhD candidate in the Department of Accounting who are: Making satisfactory progress in their candidature and have passed confirmation (or are otherwise approved by their Head of Department) Have at least 12 months remaining in candidature You will also have: A passion for teaching and supporting student learning Strong interpersonal and communication skills Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team A commitment to professional growth and continuous learning For further information regarding responsibilities and requirements, please refer to the attached PD.
