THE ROLE & TEAM

This is a unique opportunity for a graduate chemist to directly influence the commercialisation of a breakthrough technology, with immediate start. Contributing to the Polyol R&D programme, this role will support the scale-up of CO2 polyols and the design of new systems. Reporting to the Lab Manager, you will use high-pressure reactor systems to collect data, design new materials and optimise the production of CO2 polyols. You will be based onsite as part of the R&D team at Alderley Park.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DAY-TO-DAY

We’re a small and fast paced business, with plans and priorities shift, however in the round expect that you’ll be doing the following:

• Conduct laboratory experiments for catalyst or polyol synthesis and/or purification.
• Optimise and improve synthetic schemes for scaled synthesis.
• Ad-hoc assistance at busy times with running experiments or samples for analysis on all in-house equipment.
• Participate in lab support activities (maintenance of stock levels for consumables and glassware within the labs, waste disposal, etc)
• Perform, and analyse data from, LC-MS, NMR, IR, MS and other analytical experiments.
• Record all work and outcomes in a clear, organised and comprehensive manner
• Effectively communicate outcomes with relevant stakeholders
• Follows safety policies & procedures and contributes to continuous improvement of health and safety practices.
