GENERAL SUMMARY

Review eligibility for, advise and assist regarding problem resolution options, and confer degrees for applicable students, within assigned area(s) of responsibility, following university graduation requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of academic advising and counseling, course work and related degree programs, typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree is required.
One year of experience in a graduation auditing environment is required.
Written and interpersonal communication skills, in order to effectively interact with students, are necessary.
Personal computer knowledge is necessary.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Banner and u.achieve knowledge are preferred.
Ability to perform physically active work of a light nature including occasional lifting requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force to transport materials and equipment may be necessary depending on area of assignment.
Previous experience providing knowledge of academic areas of assignment may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Advise students on eligibility for graduation.
  • Provide general advisory information to students and assist in the distribution of information.
  • Adhere to graduation requirements and assist with determining problem resolution options.
  • Assist with in-service training seminars for advisors, faculty interns, graduate assistants and student advising assistants within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Assist Departmental advisors concerning academic policies and procedures.Attend staff meetings and participate on University committees.
  • If applicable to area of assignment, adhere to any and all NCAA, Mid-American Conference and Eastern Michigan University policies, rules, regulations, and operational procedures.
  • Perform related Departmental duties as required.
