SUMMARY

The Grain Merchandiser / Agricultural Commodity Trader focuses on business development. Through building customer and vendor relationships, this position will work to expand the purchasing and sales of Furst-McNess Company of Canada Limited for agricultural commodities. The person in this role will also be responsible for identifying new markets and product opportunities that will create value for the customers of Furst-McNess.
The selected candidate will be required to be familiar with agriculture and farming and being fully bilingual in both French and English would be a strong asset. They also must be open and willing to learn all aspects of this position during the extensive training program. As an Agricultural Commodity Trader, the individual will require exceptional communication and customer service skills and have a drive to provide excellent service.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bilingual in both French and English would be considered a strong asset
  • Be familiar with farming and agriculture
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding people skills with the ability to negotiate
  • Ability to problem solve and ensure solutions in a timely manner
  • Must be open and willing to learn

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers and customers
  • Obtain market information for business development
  • Negotiate purchase and sale terms with customers and suppliers
  • Maintain communication with logistics department to ensure all logistics are completed and deadlines are met
  • Provide excellent customers service and monitor any active shipments
