Job Title: Grant Accountant Job Description We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Grant Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing journal entries, account reconciliations, preparing financial reports, and assembling expense and reimbursement packets. Prior grant accounting experience is not required—this is an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in grant management while contributing to a dynamic and collaborative environment. Responsibilities Prepare accurate journal entries and budget vouchers, ensuring all supporting documentation is complete. Analyze financial data, reconcile general ledger accounts, and confirm proper accounting classifications. Maintain organized electronic and physical records in compliance with institutional requirements. Generate periodic and ad hoc reports detailing grant account status and financial analysis. Submit completed work for supervisory review to ensure accuracy and completeness. Resolve grant-related accounting issues and uphold compliance with grantor and institutional guidelines. Participate in trainings and meetings to stay informed on policies and procedures. Collaborate with the grants office and institutional research team to review new grant applications and associated budgets. Assist with audit preparation and provide timely responses to auditor inquiries. Ensure adherence to all Federal, State, local, and private grant regulations. Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Strong understanding of debits and credits, with experience in preparing and recording journal entries, expense reports, billing reimbursements, and grant-related financial reporting. Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience in a professional setting. Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Proficiency in Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level, including formulas and data analysis. Additional Skills & Qualifications Non-profit accounting experience preferred. Fund accounting experience preferred. Work Environment This is a fully on-site role with standard business hours. The position offers a 37.5-hour workweek, along with paid holidays and a generous PTO package. You’ll be joining a close-knit team that values collaboration, support, and shared success. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tampa, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.41 - $27.41/hr.
