Responsibilities

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Services Division is looking for an individual to provide value-added knowledge and advice to program areas about the financial component of grant programs.

Reporting to the Grants and Payables Team Lead, the Grant Advisor provides strategic financial guidance to program areas on the administration of grant programs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the preparation of accurate and timely financial reporting for all departmental grant and contract funding.
  • Monitor and reconcile grant and contract expenses using departmental electronic data management systems and reporting tools.
  • Review and reconcile grant records within the Grant Management System (GMS).
  • Assist in the development, management, and monitoring of departmental grant programs.
  • Guide and lead program areas in designing and launching grant initiatives, including monitoring associated payments.
  • Ensure all financial transactions comply with relevant legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Advise on the design, implementation, and enhancement of grant programs and reporting tools within GMS.
  • Collaborate on the development of new reporting tools and ensure improvements to existing processes.
  • Generate accurate, tailored reports for senior management using systems such as GMS, 1GX, and other departmental databases.
  • Mitigate departmental financial risk by ensuring grant payments are compliant and issued in a timely manner.
  • Communicate processes, requirements, and best practices effectively to program staff to promote efficiency, transparency, and accountability.
  • Provide training, guidance, and ongoing support to internal stakeholders to ensure proper grant management procedures are followed.
