Description:
The Grant Writer is responsible for researching, developing, writing, and submitting grant proposals to secure funding from foundations, corporations, and government agencies. This role will support LSSSC’s fundraising efforts by drafting compelling narratives, maintaining grant records, and assisting with post-award reporting. The ideal candidate has strong writing skills, attention to detail, and a passion for nonprofit development.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in grant writing or nonprofit fundraising.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling abilities, with attention to detail and clarity.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor database or grants management software.
- Passion for LSSSC’s mission and commitment to social services and community impact.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with government grant applications.
- Familiarity with program evaluation and impact reporting.
- Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising principles and grant compliance.
Language Ability: Must read, speak, and write fluent English.
Communication: Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with clients and staff.
Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software and Spreadsheet software.
