SUMMARY
This position will design and develop packaging & other creative elements on behalf of our CPG and Digital Marketing efforts. THIS IS A CONTRACT POSITION THAT BASED ON PERFORMANCE COULD LEAD TO A FULL TIME PERMANENT POSITION.
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
· College diploma in Fine Arts/Graphic Design, or equivalent in a design related profession and competency with a portfolio of design work
· Minimum 5 years of a graphic design experience
· Minimum 1+ years of web design experience
· Ability to be creative and drive effective graphics packaging solutions.
· Strong design skills and knowledgeable in web best practices, including Web Accessibility standards in terms of layouts (Colours/Fonts, etc.)
· Ability to be creative and drive effective graphics packaging solutions.
· Experience designing online assets, packaging, publications, print ads, instore merchandise and brochures.
· Advance knowledge of core design Adobe Cloud programs (including but not limited to: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign.)
· Knowledge of applicable computer systems/software, such as MAC OS and other function specific software, as well as Microsoft Office and Outlook.
· Advanced creative talent, solid design sense, ability to interpret general concepts, visualize and apply abstract thinking to practical uses.
· Holistic understanding of how website pages work together/site structure as a whole and keen sense of what constitutes clean design from an artistic standpoint.
· Knowledge in working with Cloud Based Creative Workflow systems like Wrike, Workfront, Basecamp.
· Knowledgeable of internal products, manufacturing, and pre-press processes
· Highly creative, self-motivated, self-directed, goal oriented, and well organized individual who is comfortable working independently and who can handle and drive multiple deadline projects simultaneously.
· Ability to build strong collaborative relationships & receive constructive feedback in a positive manner
· Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills for working with internal and external business and technical partners
· Strong Problem Solving Skills
· Ability to travel to CCL Subsidiaries (Canada/US) and suppliers as needed
· Adapt and modify packaging designs content for Canadian market.
· Color Management: Manage color consistency across different devices and printing processes, using color calibration tools and techniques.
· Proofing: Generate and review proofs to ensure that the final printed product matches the client’s expectations. This may include soft proofs or hard proofs.
· Online asset support and creation range from: email, landing pages, paid search pages, web banners, display banners, packaging shot modifications, template designs or icons, etc.
· Offline materials could include: sales collateral, product instructions, packaging changes
· Archive and manage assets in applicable digital docket storage systems in order to facilitate sharing of content and easy retrieval
· Apply a consistent design standard across multiple projects
· Remain current with all new design tools and techniques
· Produces graphic sketches, layouts, and designs, utilizing various techniques – e.g., hand sketching or computer-based tools for the initial development and illustration of ideas.
· Develop original and/or modify existing concepts based on direction given by sales, customer, and management in effort to meet customer’s needs.
· Create, develop, and adjust customer artwork to meet manufacturer specifications.
· Utilizes creative skill to produce original artwork or enhance existing artwork for use in the development of external customer brand identification programs, which may include labels, logos, and apparel trim, packaging and other products.
· Research customer markets, products, retail approaches, for design, apparel, and packaging styles and trends. Considers cost-efficiency when selecting alternative colours, sizes, etc. to present.
· Creates original concepts that fit the direction for existing or new product lines or to the customer’s primary identity in its markets. Applies considerable imagination and talent to originate, develop, and present, for internal review, one or more options for product line names, logos, and applications to tags, labels, trim, and branded accessories that carry out the concepts. Reviews progress, ideas, & direction with art direction staff as required.
· Create samples, models, or other examples to demonstrate how the product may look, feel, print, cut, fold, etc.
· Adhere to safe work practices, instructions and rules. Perform work duties in a manner that ensures health and safety of all employees.
· Ensure compliance with all financial policies and procedures as outlined in Bill 198, CCL financial policies & applicable tax regulations
