Position requires a creative and innovative graphic designer to work with and support the internal departments and marketing needs of the university. This position works closely with the promotional writer(s) and project coordinator(s) on their team, with oversight from their Marketing Manager to ensure that the branding and marketing is integrated within the goals for the clients they serve. Employee must be proficient in Adobe creative suite and well-versed in all facets of design, including typography, color theory, and principles and elements of design. Position requires forward thinking, problem solving, and staying abreast of industry trends in designs.
While the Marketing Department home office is in Lynchburg, Va., this position is a remote, work-from-home position. There are a few occasions where the Senior Graphic Designer will be required to be in the office/Lynchburg area, which will be discussed after the job offer.
QUALIFICATIONS, CREDENTIALS AND COMPETENCIES
A bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Graphic Design, Art, Communications, or related field and 1-2 years’ experience is required. Regular interaction with internal print shop and promotional vendors in the submission of native art files for printing and production of materials for University departments. Effective communication both verbally and in writing. Ability to intuitively reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
