Description

The Graphic Designer plays a critical role in enhancing the Sheridan brand through dynamic, engaging visual design. Working within the Marketing and Communications team, this role involves close collaboration to create high-quality, compelling visual assets across various platforms. The Graphic Designer is responsible for producing visually consistent and brand-aligned designs for print and digital media, which include corporate communications, website assets, event materials, and advertising collateral. They will contribute to creative brainstorming and planning sessions to ensure each project aligns with strategic objectives and enhances the user experience.

THE CANDIDATE WILL ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-year degree in Graphic Design or related field;
  • Minimum 5 years of digital design and online advertising, including banner design, production, and digital technologies that adhere to best practices in design optimization, usability, and functionality (equivalences to be considered);
  • Proficiency in current design programs, especially Adobe Creative Cloud tools such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, InCopy, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Animate;
  • Experience mentoring or training internal design teams and junior graphic designers, fostering skill development and collaboration;
  • User experience (UX) design across websites, mobile, and digital platforms, with a focus on creating intuitive and impactful digital experiences.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Designing graphic application such as collateral material, environmental graphics, publications, corporate identity and branding, media campaigns (e.g. out-of-home billboards, online banners, home page takeovers, social media campaigns);
  • Collaborating with internal Sheridan clients and developing creative strategies to achieve marketing and design objectives;
  • Innovating brand extension items, brand peripherals and imager by creating proofs of concept, mock-ups and presentation materials;
  • Organizing and managing design materials systematically, overseeing storage and maintaining meticulous inventory records;
  • Researching and reviewing trending applications in both online and offline spaces, recommending enhancements that elevate Sheridan’s brand and user experience;
  • Meeting with internal partners and team members to determine design requirements, often engaging in multiple strategy meetings to clarify vision and objectives;
  • Representing the Creative Studio when consulting with both internal partners and external print vendors to ensure accurate and high-quality production;
  • Developing and maintaining the print production schedule, ensuring timely project completion and adherence to deadlines;
  • Collaborating with the Creative Studio team to ensure cost-effective and efficient production methods, while maintaining strong relationships with suppliers to ensure best quality;
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on production statistics and design trends, identifying opportunities for improvement and growth;
  • Demonstrating a strong understanding of accessible design and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles, proposing solutions that align with Sheridan’s corporate objectives and improve inclusivity and accessibility in design;
  • Utilizing Adobe After Effects and Adobe Animate to create engaging motion graphics and animations for digital campaigns;
  • Demonstrating a deliberate ability to create animated GIFs for use in online platforms, enhancing engagement and brand appeal;
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
