Description

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years education/experience in graphic design and advertising.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience creating motion graphic typography or vector animations using Adobe AfterEffects or similar software
  • Comprehensive background, understanding, and experience with Macintosh or PC and software applications such as InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator, PowerPoint, and Photoshop.
  • Knowledge of PDF and postscript files and PDF plug-ins.
  • General knowledge of utility programs such as file compression, disk repair, print spoolers, PC to Mac, and Mac to PC conversion processes.
  • Ability to prepare files for output to film, plate, spot and 4-color process, and digital press; and receive and manipulate files electronically and maintain operating system on production machine.
  • Ability to prepare files and creative for digital media such as web or social media platforms
  • Ability to send files to digital printing press and copiers.
  • Experience in comping and book pagination.\
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision.

Responsibilities

POSITION PURPOSE

TheGraphic Designer II is responsible for performing a variety of functions in compliance with job specifications and company quality standards to ensure overall customer satisfaction and service. Produces pre-press graphics and text to job specifications/requirements. Executes design, layout, and typesetting projects accurately and effectively. Assists inside and outside sales staff in promoting services to customers. Schedules all work to meet customer timeframe requirements. Works closely with other staff members to exceed customer satisfaction and service. Assists in creating and maintaining department file structure. Works closely with peers and Graphic Designer I level to share ideas, offer creative insight and develop new methods. Requires minimum art direction from director to creatively execute projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  • Performs design and desktop publishing job orders and revisions according to job requirements.
  • Communicates with project coordinator/manager when a question regarding the order arises.
  • Provide proofs and see that proof deadlines are met.
  • Executes creative that meet the standards for the department.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized Graphics/Desktop Publishing area.
  • Organize files for safekeeping and for easy retrieval.
  • Meets position requirements and performs essential functions.
  • Works on tagging and organizing of the image library with guidance from staff.
  • Produces pre-press and/or digital/web graphics and text to job specifications/requirements
  • This position sits in our Birmingham AL home office. This is not a remote position.
