Description

Freelancer.com connects almost 90 million people to work across the globe, and we're looking for a designer to help create the content they see every day.

You're a designer who's genuinely excited about where tech and AI are heading, and you want your work to reach millions rather than sit in a folder. You care about craft, you move fast, and you're already testing new tools before anyone tells you to.

We're a thirteen-time Webby winner and the world's largest freelancing marketplace. You'll work hand-in-hand with our content lead in a small, sharp creative team, turning ideas into the social, motion, and campaign creative our global audience actually sees.

What you'll do:

  • Design and animate content for social, email, banners, and video, at volume and at pace
  • Create content for platforms like TikTok, where our brand meets people in the wild
  • Take work from brief, mood board, and storyboard through to finished, polished creative
  • Build and maintain templates that keep our content consistent and fast to produce
  • Bring your visual polish to product surfaces from time to time, like landing pages, feature promos, and in-app moments, making them look as good as our campaigns
  • Contribute ideas to how our brand evolves in a fast-moving tech space

What we're looking for:

  • A personal portfolio website that shows off your best work (this is a must; Behance, Dribbble, or PDF portfolios alone won't be considered)
  • Strong core graphic design skills: composition and visual storytelling
  • A strong eye for typography, colour, and layout
  • Motion and animation skills, not just static design
  • A feel for social, especially TikTok, and what makes a brand worth following
  • A systems mindset: you think in reusable layouts and templates, not one-off pieces
  • Confidence with Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Figma
  • Curiosity about AI and how it's changing creative work
  • Bonus: you can take a plain interface and make it look award-worthy. Think standout screens, landing pages, and product visuals, not wireframes or user research

Why Freelancer?:

  • Grow fast. We promote from within and have produced a lot of the tech industry's product and business leaders
  • Do work that matters. Our mission is one billion jobs, real income and opportunity for people worldwide
  • Enjoy the culture. HQ is in Grosvenor Place, with weekly classes, events, and the occasional questionable office stunt (we once laid two tonnes of turf for an indoor soccer stadium)

How to apply:

Include a link to your personal portfolio website and show reel. Applications without a personal portfolio website won't be considered. Your portfolio is the first thing we open, and if it doesn't stand out, we won't get to your CV. Lead with your best work, and if you've made a product or interface look beautiful, include that too.

Employer questions

Your application will include the following questions:

  • Are you currently based in Australia and have full working rights?
  • Show us what you've got. Upload your portfolio / show reel

  • Regular remote travel with a Katherine home base.
  • A supportive, multidisciplinary team environment that values collaboration, learning and growth.
  • Ongoing professional development, training and capacity-building opportunities.
  • The chance to build lasting relationships and cultural connection that will shape your career and perspective.
