Your Opportunity with us 12-Month Fixed Term Contract | Bring Creativity to Life We’re on the search for a creative, detail-driven Graphic Designer to join our Marketing & Communications team on an initial12-month fixed-term contract, based in our Melbourne office. This is a hybrid role (3 days in office). This role is hands-on and creative, with responsibility for designing and producing high-quality visual communications that showcase SMEC’s expertise and strengthen our brand presence. You will work closely with stakeholders across the business to deliver on-brand creative that supports both internal and external initiatives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Design & Production: Create and deliver a wide range of visual assets – including social media graphics, infographics, presentations, diagrams, maps, print materials, animations, and video. Campaigns & Events: Contribute to the conceptualisation and execution of campaigns and events through strong, consistent design outputs. Brand Stewardship: Apply and enforce SMEC’s brand guidelines, ensuring design work is aligned, professional, and impactful. Corporate Collateral: Support the design of publications, capability statements, and high-value bids. Training & Support: Provide guidance to internal teams, enabling them to produce quality, on-brand materials. About You You are a creative all-rounder with the ability to transform complex briefs into clear, visually compelling communications. You balance creativity with practical execution and thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. To be successful in this role, your core strengths will include: Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and brand consistency Ability to balance creative innovation with meeting business needs Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills Proactive approach to problem solving and capacity management You’ll ideally bring: Diploma or degree in graphic design, visual communications, or equivalent relevant experience Deep understanding of design principles and ability to apply best practice across digital and print Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects) Strong working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint and Word Approximately 4+ years experience in a similar role Photography, videography, and editing skills (desirable) Previous exposure to digital/web design (preferably WordPress) Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment Why Join Us?
