For over 50 years, our artisans have incorporated glass beads, gold leaf, painting, seashells, wood veneers, and stitching into collections made in our Skokie, Illinois studio, just north of Chicago. Whether produced on-site or abroad, handcrafted or machine-made, every product is put through Maya Romanoff’s rigorous standard for quality, beauty and innovation, with a guiding mantra: “Make every wall beautiful.”
The company is seeking a Graphic Designer to manage and execute digital print production and create visual solutions to promote our product line in accordance with brand standards. Working closely with the company’s Graphic Design Team Manager, the Executive Vice President of Product Development, and the Director of Product Development, the Graphics/Digital Print Specialist interfaces with employees from all divisions of the company, coordinates with outside vendors, and executes design projects. This position will be responsible for graphic design assignments, the day-to-day print production, and maintenance of the wide-format printers.
This full-time position is based in our Skokie headquarters. This role will report to the Director of Product Development and the Graphic Design Team Manager and have frequent interaction with Executive Vice President of Manufacturing and Product Development, the Graphic Design and Digital Print Specialist, Product Development Manager, and Marketing Manager. Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet timely execution of marketing collateral for products that follow company graphic standards
  • Assist in the graphic design and/or photography of promotional materials including:

· Postcards, catalog, presentation boards, sample binders, advertisements, marketing emails, posters, invitations, signs, stationery, business cards, price books, wing tags, other designed collateral for Maya Romanoff and its showrooms

  • Touch-up and color-correction process of photography
  • Edit videos for tradeshows and social media
  • Aid marketing in coordination of photoshoots
  • Aid in execution of in-house photoshoots for catalog, advertisements, and social media
  • Assist in managing and updating company image bank
  • Work with the Product Development team to execute designs/pattern development for new wallcoverings and custom “Atelier” projects
  • Maintain organization with multiple projects, prioritize workflow, adhere to timelines
  • Ensure Work Orders are produced according to specifications
  • Manage organization of digital files on Graphics Storage
  • Manage projects through delivery and distribution
  • Correspond with various printers/vendors regarding project costs and timelines
  • Travel to printers as needed to attend press checks
  • Assist in maintaining and operating wide-format digital printers: Prepare RIP files, change substrate rolls, and execute wide-format digitally-print jobs; troubleshoot machinery and various file formats and software; conduct regular machine calibrations and schedule outside maintenance as needed; maintain and organize printer supplies (i.e. toner, ink, substrates); stay current on the latest tech information within the digital printing industry
  • Assist in performing quality checks according to established procedures to ensure high quality of production
  • Observe printing equipment in operation and adjust as needed
  • Identify workable production solutions when troubleshooting
  • Ensure deadlines are maintained and company objectives are met
  • Be responsible for the overall safety and cleanliness of equipment and area
  • Be prompt, courteous, professional and take pride in work
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Any special projects and additional duties, as assigned by supervisor

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA or a BFA degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media Design or related field of study
  • 5+ years of prepress/digital printing experience
  • 5+ years of Graphic Design experience
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office
  • Basic knowledge of web design
  • Knowledge of industry RIP programs, HP and Epson wide-format printers.
  • Ability to set up and operate digital wide-format printers
  • Ability to communicate with others effectively, both orally and in writing,

in a professional manner

  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.04 - $27.40 per hour
