KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Under the general supervision of the Head of Design, and the Senior Designer duties may include:

  • Working with Gallery colleagues to develop and implement creative solutions for the continuing redisplay of the Collection.
  • Working with the Exhibitions teams to produce and implement graphic schemes for major exhibitions.
  • Working with the Marketing team design and implement exhibition print and digital campaigns.
  • Working with the Comms and visitor Experience teams to deliver and update wayfinding solutions.
  • Managing workflow to deliver projects within agreed timeframe with set deadlines and budgets. Procuring services and goods from external suppliers.
  • Keeping up to date with best design practice, researching current exhibition design trends.

KEY EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND CRITERIA:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a Graphic Designer.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Adobe Creative design software is essential.
  • Previous experience of working within a Museum, Gallery or Arts organisation is desirable.
  • Proven experience of working with brand guidelines is desirable.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues within the Curatorial Department and across the Gallery.
  • Conscientious and meticulous.
  • Strong typographic skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • High level of competence in Microsoft Office software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible and responsive, working well under pressure, responding quickly to changing demands and collaboratively with colleagues across the Gallery.
  • Understanding of basic procurement processes and budget management.
  • Strong multitask organisational skills.
  • Demonstrates passion and approaches all work in an enthusiastic way.
  • An interest in all fields of design, architecture and interiors.
Responsibilities

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Graphic Designer, working as part of a busy in-house team, will deliver creative solutions for a range of projects and initiatives including major exhibitions; developing and implementing graphic narratives within interior design schemes. The Graphic Designer will support the Design team working collaboratively with colleagues across the Gallery and with external consultants.
