We are seeking a full-time Graphic Designer/Printshop Operator. The incumbent is responsible for producing all printed and electronic materials for funeral services in a timely, accurate, and respectful manner. The role requires a strong sense of design, technical proficiency, and compassionate communication skills. A high level of professionalism and attention to detail is essential in this position to ensure all printed materials are of the highest quality and free of errors.

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 2 -3 years of experience in graphics.
  • Education in Graphic Design/Visual Communications/Digital Design
  • Clear communication skills and superior attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere or Final Cut) as well as Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel and Word).
  • Familiarity with a Mac environment tied to windows network.
  • Clear background check.
  • Must provide a physical or digital portfolio.

Responsibilities

Design and Production

  • Create and print funeral stationery such as memorial folders, prayer cards, and other material related to funeral services.
  • Perform photo scanning and manipulation in Photoshop, including cropping, colour correction and/or restoration as well as background replacement.
  • Produce electronic materials like motion screens, Tribute videos, and live streams.
  • Set up files for printing on commercial laser color press.

Print Shop Operations

  • Operate and maintain medium-duty machinery, including printers, cutters, folder and laser engravers.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting for printing equipment and Apple computers.
  • Organize and distribute all printed materials for each service in a timely manner.

Client and Family Interaction

  • Coordinate with funeral directors and grieving families to confirm design layouts and details on cards and other print materials.
  • Handle all interactions, whether face-to-face, by phone, or electronically, with the utmost respect and care.

General

  • Work quickly and efficiently to meet strict, time-sensitive deadlines for funeral services.
  • Perform a thorough quality check on all printed materials.
  • Manage sensitive and confidential information, including personal photos and biographical details.
  • Oversee Printshop inventory, restock accordingly.
