ABOUT THE POSITION, the Graphic Designer (temporary) is responsible for design and execution of all marketing and communications-related print and digital creative for Playworks. This is a fully remote, temporary, non-exempt position and will be covering a leave of absence with a start date of October 6, 2025 and end date of March 10, 2026. This position will be on an “as needed basis” with project work ranging from 2-20 hours per week with an hourly rate of $50 per hour.
You’ll be responsible for maintaining the design vision by executing design solutions, from concept to completion and across multiple channels — including digital, print, packaging, and environmental design. You’ll work closely with internal teams to develop and evaluate design options and have the opportunity to keep the Playworks brand relevant through impactful design solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Head of Marketing and Communications, the graphic designer is responsible for design, production and project management of collateral development, and graphics for all national and regional pieces.
  • Meets with various national and regional internal stakeholders to discuss project strategy and objectives and then develops and presents appropriate design solutions. Manage internal expectations while delivering high-quality, timely work products for internal constituents and departments.
  • Edit/retouch digital photography.
  • The candidate is ideally on the cutting edge of digital, web, and print design methodologies and trends.
  • Updating existing design templates on various platforms such as Google Slides, Adobe Indesign, and Canva.

Graphic Design Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional design experience (BA in Design or equivalent) and a strong print and digital portfolio (required).
  • Advanced proficiency using Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign is required, Photoshop, and Illustrator, as well as general comfort with PowerPoint and Google Drive Apps such as Docs and Slides. Experience with Adobe Premier is a plus.
  • Understanding of/experience with print production and web/digital technologies. Experience with multimedia content creation is a plus (such as video editing).
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment focused on innovative human-centered design methodologies, while delivering high-quality work product in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
