Description

The Graphic Designer works with the Strategic Marketing and Communications team and stakeholders across the college to steward and elevate the brand of the John Glenn College of Public Affairs. This position develops deep understanding of college audiences to generate compelling visual elements that build awareness, inspire choice and foster affinity for the college while aligning with The Ohio State University brand.
The Graphic Designer will provide sound recommendations on how visual channels can be used to support strategic objectives by leveraging an audience centric mindset, design best practices and a multi-channel approach. The role is responsible for producing and managing print materials, signage, publications, emails, and web pages to ensure consistent visual identity across channels. The designer will also provide photography services and support video filming, editing, and production as needed. While producing visual assets (graphic, video, photo, emails and web pages), the designer manages projects from ideation through implementation by customizing project plans, coordinating resources/suppliers and managing timelines based on the unique goals of each project and unit. The ability to work on simultaneous priorities while implementing design and brand principles across diverse platforms is a critical component of this role.
Duties Description
Manages visual communication projects to ensure timely and quality delivery. Ideates, designs and implements graphics, print pieces, signage, web pages, emails and publications that align with marketing strategies and plans. Leads management of college website – including maintenance, creation of pages, auditing content and ensuring content/design resonates with audiences. Designs and produces college email communication to communicate messages in a visually compelling way.
Supports college social media communication. Takes photography as needed to build library, generate assets for design jobs, and to support college events and activities. Video editing or motion graphics as needed. Other related duties as assigned.
Consults with marketing and communications colleagues on strategic objectives. Collaborates with units and centers within the college to identify opportunities for enhancements, advise on best practices and create templates. Regularly seeks and implements feedback from teams.
Manages relationships with suppliers and university partners. Maintains industry knowledge by actively seeking information on trends and best practices and participating in professional development opportunities. Collaborates with university marketing and communications initiatives and communities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 2 years of relevant experience required.
