Description

Arillic, a fast-growing SBA 8(a) federal contractor, is hiring a Graphic Designer & Visual Communications Specialist to support the U.S. Army Medical Research and Development Command (MRDC) Public Affairs Office at Fort Detrick. This on-site role blends creative design, technical precision, and military mission alignment to produce high-impact digital and print graphics.
The ideal candidate will bring 7+ years of professional design experience, proficiency in DoD or federal branding environments, and an active Secret clearance. You’ll design materials ranging from scientific posters and trade show visuals to animations, brochures, and command publications.
This position is contingent on contract award. Candidates must have clearance and demonstrated experience producing government or military-facing visual materials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active Secret clearance
  • 7+ years of professional graphic design experience
  • Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro)
  • Experience producing both digital and high-quality print deliverables
  • Proven ability to apply DoD or federal branding, accessibility, and layout standards
  • Experience formatting large PowerPoint decks with consistent visual identity
  • Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility compliance (PDF tagging, alt text, contrast)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience supporting DoD communications or federal scientific/military organizations
  • Working knowledge of military research environments or biomedical graphics
  • Experience creating exhibit and tradeshow collateral (banners, backdrops, etc.)
  • Basic animation or motion graphics experience (After Effects or similar)
  • Ability to work independently and provide design leadership to a comms team

Responsibilities
  • Design and produce a wide range of visual products including:
  • Slide decks, brochures, scientific posters, logos, trade show exhibits, social graphics, digital animations, flyers, templates, and command branding
  • Ensure all designs meet high-quality standards across print and digital formats
  • Maintain and expand a photo and graphics library to support evolving MRDC research needs
  • Ensure Section 508 compliance in all deliverables, including accessible PDFs and tagged images
  • Edit, format, and visually align PowerPoint presentations across multiple research areas
  • Serve as an on-site design lead and liaison to support graphics tasking and team needs
  • Provide rapid-turn design for protocol events, VIP visits, and scientific presentations
  • Suggest and prototype new visual concepts that align with the military mission
