POSITION SUMMARY

The Graphic & Web Design / Development Instructor is responsible for teaching students the creative, technical, and professional skills required to design and develop visually engaging and functional digital solutions. The instructor will combine design principles, coding expertise, and industry practices to prepare students for careers in web design, web development, and digital media.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma, Bachelor’s, or Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Web Development, Computer Science, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in design or web technologies (asset).
  • Minimum 2–3 years of professional experience in graphic design and/or web development.
  • Experience teaching, training, or mentoring in an academic or corporate environment (preferred).
  • Strong proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, and other design/prototyping tools.
  • Solid understanding of front-end web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
  • Familiarity with CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress, Shopify).
  • Knowledge of UX/UI principles and responsive design standards.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.

Experience:

  • Web design: 2 year (Preferred)
  • Graphic design: 2 year (Preferred)
  • CSS: 1 year (Preferred)
  • HTML5: 1 year (Preferred)

Responsibilities
  • Deliver curriculum covering graphic design, user interface (UI) design, user experience (UX), front-end development, and web technologies.
  • Teach industry-standard tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, InDesign), Figma, and prototyping tools.
  • Provide instruction in web development languages and frameworks such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and WordPress.
  • Introduce responsive design, accessibility standards, and best practices in usability.
  • Guide students through portfolio development, branding projects, and live-client simulations.
  • Incorporate current industry practices, trends, and case studies into instruction.
  • Assess students’ progress through assignments, projects, and presentations.
  • Mentor students in building professional digital portfolios to showcase their design and development skills.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving design trends, web standards, and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with academic staff to ensure course materials meet industry and ministry standards.
