Description

Overview:
The Division of Violence Prevention’s Communications Team is seeking support to create a suite of tools and templates to accelerate storytelling. This short-term, quick-start project will focus on the design and delivery of a set of customizable, on-brand templates and visual tools that enable the communications team to communicate outcomes effectively, improve turnaround time, and ensure consistency across of communication products. The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of visual design expertise, attention to accessibility, and experience working in a mission-driven environment.
Responsibilities:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design a cohesive suite of customizable communication templates, including infographics for program metrics and data visualization and storytelling formats for highlighting key messages and testimonials
  • Ensure all designs align with brand guidelines, accessibility standards (Section 508 compliance), and best practices in visual communication
  • Develop style guides and/or usage instructions to support consistent, effective use of templates across teams
  • Collaborate with program staff and health communications specialists to translate complex information into clear, engaging visuals
  • Revise and refine designs based on stakeholder feedback and evolving program needs
  • Deliver final design files in accessible, editable formats (e.g., PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator, or similar)
  • Support internal adoption of the new templates through training materials or onboarding support as needed

Qualifications:

  • Prior/recent experience with CDC is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field
  • 3–5 years of relevant design experience, preferably in a government, nonprofit, or consulting environment
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Microsoft Office, and other design tools
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating experience with data visualization, infographics, and template creation
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices for digital communications (e.g., Section 508 compliance)
  • Ability to manage multiple design projects with competing deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

Pay Range: USD $85,000.00 - USD $100,000.00 /Yr
