GREEN DOME ISLAMIC SCHOOL INSTRUCTORS - QURAN, ARABIC LANGUAGE, AND ISLAMIC STUDIES.

Green Dome Islamic School (K-7) is an Islamic school located in the Northeast of Calgary. We are part of the Prairie Land School Division in Alberta. Our school follows the Alberta Education curriculum within an Islamic environment. We offer a wide variety of learning opportunities including regular classroom studies, Quran, Islamic Studies, and Extra-Curricular groups.
We are currently accepting applications for Arabic Language, Islamic Studies, and Quran Instructors for the 2025-2026 school year. Specific assignments are yet to be determined, however we encourage you to begin your application process for preliminary consideration. The job may include virtual classroom instruction. Candidates must be legally allowed to work in Canada and fluent in written and spoken English.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

The successful candidate will have, but is not limited to, the following qualifications and experience.

  • Fluent in English, both written and oral.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related subject from an accredited university; experience is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidates must have the ability to maintain a calm and professional manner in a fast-paced environment, which will often require multitasking.
  • Must have excellent classroom management skills.
  • Understand and apply current research-based strategies for classroom instruction.
  • Experience in integrating technology, (Chromebooks, Google, etc..) into teaching strategies.
  • Supports instruction of identified students, using various teaching methods.
  • Prepares relevant course objectives and outlines for courses of study following curriculum guidelines and related resources to support classroom inclusiveness.
  • Evaluate students’ progress, record results, and issue reports to inform parents of progress.
  • Participate in staff and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
  • Culture sensitivity, with experience in a faith-based school environment.
  • Ability and commitment to build strong relationships with staff, students, parents, and the community.

Responsibilities

The candidate will be able to do one or more of the following:

  • Plan, initiate, and guide the units of study in Arabic, which involve speaking, listening, writing, and reading, both online and in-person.
  • Plan, initiate, and guide the units of study in Quran which involve reciting, memorizing, and understanding Quranic Arabic, both online and in-person.
  • Plan, initiate, and guide the units of study in Islamic Studies, which involve reading, understanding, and answering questions, both online and in-person.
  • Create and evaluate assessments of each student’s work and keep records updated.
  • Foster thought, discussion, reading comprehension, linguistic analysis, and a consistent work ethic.
  • Communicate regularly and constructively with peers, supervisor, administrators, students, and parents.
  • Set and assign appropriate homework on a regular basis to reinforce student learning and prepare them for further class activities.
  • Use teaching methods that are engaging, and stimulate intellectual curiosity, including the use of effective questioning, presentation, and resources.
  • Set high expectations for students’ behavior, establishing and maintaining a good standard of behavior management through well-focused teaching, through positive and productive relationships in accordance with the School’s policy and standards.
