Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dynamic individual to join our team as a Green Schools Engagement Officer. This role focuses on educating students about energy efficiency and environmental sustainability through engaging presentations delivered on behalf of Efficiency Nova Scotia in schools across the province. The ideal candidate is fluent in English and possesses a strong knowledge and passion for the environment and is comfortable with public speaking.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Fluency in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
  • French an Asset
  • Strong knowledge of the environment and energy efficiency principles, whether gained through formal education or self-taught.
  • Experience in delivering educational presentations or workshops.
  • Ability to engage and inspire students of all ages through dynamic presentations and interactive activities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively to meet travel and presentation schedules.
  • Flexibility to travel within the province, occasionally requiring overnight stays.
  • Passion for environmental sustainability and a commitment to promoting eco-friendly behaviors among youth.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License, access to a safe and reliable vehicle.
  • A criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check, will be required before working in schools.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver pre-designed, engaging presentations on energy efficiency and sustainability practices to students of various ages.
  • Collaborate with teachers and school administrators to schedule and coordinate presentations in-person and virtually.
  • Travel to schools across the province to deliver presentations, ensuring a professional and impactful delivery.
  • Answer questions and facilitate discussions with students to deepen their understanding of energy conservation and environmental stewardship.
  • Promote awareness through social media and other channels of our organization’s initiatives and programs aimed at fostering a culture of sustainability within schools.
  • Collect feedback and evaluate the effectiveness of presentations to continuously improve educational content and delivery.
  • Track engagements and maintain an accurate and up to date calendar.
