Overview The lead counselor will serve as a role model counselor while supporting camp counselors, Site Directors, and other camp leadership staff.   Lead counselors should be able to model a variety of ideal behaviors and actions while guiding camp counselors. The lead counselor is responsible for teaching, coordinating and carrying out activities and guiding both campers and counselors in their personal growth.  Lead Counselors will work in various camps offering outdoor adventure, including activities such as kayaking, hiking, archery, field games, mountain biking, fishing, and campfire.  Camp Training:  Lead Staff Training - Attendance Required: Evenings of May 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th All Staff Training - Attendance Required: Evenings of May 19th, 20th, 21st, 26th, 27th   Camp Dates:  June 1st - July 31st , Monday - Friday (One guaranteed week off)  *Must be present for the first week of camp.  KEY FUNCTIONS * Provide support for Site Director and counselors as needed * Serve as a role model counselor for camp counselor staff * Ensure all camp policies and procedures are being followed by staff and campers * Support and motivate camp counselor staff, to include tasks such as observations, behavior modeling, & conflict resolution support * Responsible for cleanliness and organization of assigned area; ensure campers and staff treat all persons as well as camp and personal property with respect * Maintain high standards of safety and security to prevent accidents and to respond appropriately in emergency situations   * Is considered part of the leadership team and assists groups as necessary * Ensures camp protocols are being followed and maintained at a high standard * All other job duties as assigned The LSC Way Staff culture at the Greenway is a top priority. All camp staff get one consecutive week off during summer  ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS    * Must be 18 years of age or older * Current CPR, First Aid, AED certifications; will train  * Child Abuse prevention training; will train PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS   Some physical requirements of a Lead Counselor position could be endurance including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, walking long distances, hiking, biking, climbing, and stretching; requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate outdoor equipment and camp activities; requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs; daily exposure to inconsistent weather conditions such as sun, heat, or rain and animals such as bugs and snakes, etc.
