The Opportunity Reporting to the Senior Manager - Grid & Electrical Engineering, the Grid Connection Manager, will play a pivotal technical and strategic role in ensuring Squadron Energy’s wind, solar and storage projects achieve technically robust, commercially sound and timely grid connections. You’ll act as the organisation’s subject matter expert in NER compliance, AEMO processes, TNSP/DNSP engagement, and grid performance risk management — guiding projects from feasibility through commissioning. What You’ll Do: Technical Leadership Lead and coordinate grid connection strategies across multiple concurrent utility‑scale projects. Oversee PSSE/PSCAD modelling, GPS preparation, negotiation and connection application packages. Provide strategic advice on network constraints, system strength, REZ opportunities and BoP integration. Engage with AEMO, NSPs, EnergyCo and OEMs as the project’s technical representative. Delivery Excellence Ensure grid requirements are incorporated through design, procurement, testing and commissioning stages. Review technical deliverables, ensure compliance with NER requirements, and maintain quality assurance on modelling, studies and contractor inputs. Identify emerging risks and opportunities across the portfolio and guide mitigation strategies. People & Capability Mentor junior engineers and uplift the broader team’s connection capability. Drive strong cross‑functional collaboration across Development, Delivery, Operations and Commercial. What You’ll Bring Technical Skills Deep understanding of NER, AEMO connection processes and TNSP/DNSP technical requirements. High proficiency in PSSE, PSCAD or PowerFactory modelling. Strong engineering judgement with the ability to influence complex technical and commercial decisions.
