Description:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience as a short order cook, grill cook, line cook, or in a similar kitchen role (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of grill techniques and the operation of grill equipment, including broilers, griddles, and fryers.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, especially during busy hours.
  • Excellent attention to detail to ensure food is cooked to order and meets presentation standards.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with front-of-house staff and other kitchen team members.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety practices, including handling raw meats and food storage.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs., and perform other physical tasks in the kitchen.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, move quickly around the kitchen, and work under pressure during peak service times.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move kitchen supplies or ingredients weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity for tasks such as flipping burgers, turning meat, stirring, and using kitchen tools.
  • Comfortable working in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Grill and Short Order Cooking:

  • Prepare and cook grill items such as burgers, steaks, and chicken, and other grilled specialties according to the menu and guest specifications.
  • Cook short-order items like sandwiches, salads, wraps, and breakfast items quickly and to order, maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Grill and sauté food items efficiently while ensuring that all dishes are cooked to the appropriate temperature and served on time.

Cooking Equipment Operation:

  • Operate grill, griddles, fryers, broilers, and other cooking equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor cooking times to ensure that food is cooked perfectly and does not undercook, overcook or burn.
  • Set up and break down cooking stations, ensuring that equipment is clean, in good working order, and ready for service.

Food Safety and Sanitation:

  • Maintain proper food safety standards, including safe handling, storage, and preparation of food products.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines, including proper cleaning and sanitization of cooking surfaces, utensils, and equipment.
  • Ensure the kitchen area is kept clean and organized, following sanitation procedures and maintaining cleanliness throughout the shift.

Order Preparation and Timing:

  • Handle multiple orders at once, prioritizing tasks to ensure that food is prepared and served in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with the front-of-house team to clarify any special requests or dietary restrictions from guests.
  • Keep track of cooking times for each item and coordinate with the rest of the kitchen staff to ensure all components of an order are completed and served together.

STEWARD / DISHWASHING DUTIES:

  • Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils using manual or automatic dishwashing equipment.
  • Clean and sanitize the dishwashing area, ensuring proper storage and organization of clean dishes.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, including cleaning countertops, floors, and food preparation areas.
  • Collect trash and waste from kitchen areas and dispose of it in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries of kitchen supplies.
  • Support kitchen team with additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Inventory and Stocking:

  • Assist in monitoring inventory levels of ingredients and supplies for grill and short-order menu items.
  • Notify leadership of any low stock or need for replenishment of ingredients.
  • Ensure that all ingredients are stored correctly to prevent spoilage and contamination.

Customer Service:

  • Ensure that food items are prepared to the highest quality standards and presented attractively.
  • Address customer concerns or special requests in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Assist in maintaining a smooth workflow in the kitchen to support excellent customer service and a positive dining experience.

Teamwork and Communication:

  • Work closely with other kitchen staff, including prep cooks, dishwashers, and servers, to ensure that orders are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with teammates to ensure a collaborative and efficient kitchen operation.
  • Assist with other kitchen duties as needed, including food prep, cleaning, and organizing kitchen supplies.
  • Assist with special projects or tasks as requested by management.

Special Event and Catering Support:

  • Assist in preparing food for special events, tournaments, or large groups as required.
  • Work as part of the kitchen team to prepare large batches of food for events and ensure that quality is maintained.
