COMPANY OVERVIEW:

Dowsing (NSW) is a leading contractor in the highway surface treatment and profile correction industry. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Grinding - Grooving Equipment Operator to join our NSW operations. This position involves operating highly specialized equipment including the PC6000EC Highway Grinder, and requires a strong commitment to safety, precision, and performance.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Grinding - Grooving Equipment Operator is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of the PC6000EC Highway Grinder and related grooving equipment used in pavement preservation and surface texturing. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that roadways, bridges, and runways meet exacting specifications and safety standards through diamond grinding and grooving.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience operating highway grinders, preferably with the PC6000EC or equivalent.
• Proven experience in:
• Concrete profile grinding
• Runway and bridge deck grooving
• Installing rumble strips on highways
• Sound mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform basic diagnostics and repairs.
• Experience working in remote or regional locations under minimal supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid HC driver’s license (required); Tanker endorsement or willingness to obtain at Company’s request.
• Clean driving record and reliable transport.
• Must be physically fit and capable of working long hours in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to travel and stay away from home regularly for project durations.
• Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and have a strong work ethic.

• Operate the PC6000EC Highway Grinder and other diamond bladed grinding/grooving machinery.
• Perform pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance on grinding and support equipment.
• Drive and manoeuvre articulated support trucks (HC license required), including water tankers.
• Accurately complete production logs, timekeeping records, and job site documentation.
• Interpret plans and specifications to execute grooving and grinding to required tolerances.
• Collaborate with the crew to ensure efficient workflow and safe job site practices.
• Travel frequently for multi-day or extended projects, including night and weekend shifts as needed.
• Maintain strict adherence to all occupational health and safety protocols.
