As a Snow Groomer, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring our ski runs and trails are perfectly prepared for guests each day. Compensation Information: Starting at $21.10 per hour (moves up based on experience and education)
Physical Requirement: Heavy; work activities involve handling loads up to 35 kg; predominantly in an outdoor setting.

SKILLS YOU BRING WITH YOU:

  • Experience:
  • Previous grooming experience is a significant asset (Levels 1-5, depending on number of seasons)
  • Some experience operating earth-moving, farming, or turf maintenance equipment.
  • One season of snowmaking experience at Sun Peaks is an asset.
  • Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality work.
  • Excellent night vision.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Self-motivated, responsible, open-minded, and eager to learn.
  • A good listener, capable of following instructions closely and precisely.
  • Able to thrive in a strong team environment and work collaboratively.
  • Comfortable working night shifts, odd hours, and overtime as needed.
  • Licensing: Valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract.

Responsibilities
  • Snow Surface Preparation: Operate snow cats to groom assigned ski runs and trails, primarily green to moderate blue runs and access roads, ensuring optimal conditions for skiers and riders.
  • Operational Adherence: Consistently follow all mountain safety, operating, and maintenance procedures and policies, including Sun Peaks Resort Standard Operating Guidelines for equipment pre-start checks, operation, fueling, and shutdown.
  • Equipment Care: Conduct daily pre-start checklists, maintain cleanliness of equipment, and complete required documentation accurately and neatly.
  • Team Collaboration: Actively participate in daily crew briefings, pay close attention to instructions, and communicate any operational issues or problems to your supervisor immediately.
  • Environmental Responsibility: Identify and contain fuel and oil leaks promptly, adhering to the company’s Environmental Management System (EMS) policies and Spill Response Plan.
  • Training & Development: Participate in fleet grooming alongside an experienced operator for a minimum duration during your first season and continue as required. Undertake Nordic grooming shifts if capable and called upon.
  • Support Duties: Perform tasks beyond snow cat operation, such as track maintenance and general equipment upkeep.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Assist with snowmaking duties when required.
