GROUNDS MAINTENANCE AND LANDSCAPING OPERATIVE

Hours: 40 - 45hrs per week (dependant on age) – extra hours occasionally required.
Pay: between £15,704.00-£29,250.00 pa. (range from apprentice salary to experienced operative)
Location: Crewe, Cheshire

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION

Due to a rise in recently won contracts, we are now looking for extra staff to work alongside our existing team of experienced landscapers.
We are considering all skill sets, so whether you are interested in pursuing an apprenticeship or if you have been in the horticultural sector for several years we are keen to hear from you.
We will consider people looking for either a permanent or casual position as well as those looking for an apprenticeship. We are also happy to consider anyone wanting to be self-employed or employed.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a company where you can learn a new skill or further develop your existing skills within a reputable organisation that has been established for over 30 years.
The successful candidate will have a keen interest in or be skilled in the following;

Maintenance Duties:

  • Maintenance of areas to a high standard.
  • Mowing of grass, feeding, watering of shrubs and plants.
  • Weeding, pruning and mulching.
  • Hedge cutting.
  • Planning / planting.
  • Operate and maintain maintenance equipment and tools.
  • Any other tasks as set out by the Contracts Manager.

Landscaping Duties:

  • Soil installation and preparation
  • Setting out and planting, trees, shrubs and whips
  • Cultivation of soil and turfing or seeding
  • Fencing - all types including close board, panel, rail and metal fencing
  • Paving and block work including and setting out
  • Play equipment installation
  • Experience in using different types of plant and machinery including diggers and dumpers

The successful candidates will be motivated, reliable, conscientious and hardworking; enthusiastic, polite, presentable and have good timekeeping.
You should have an understanding of health and safety and be able to demonstrate the interest and skills you already possess.
You should have a good level of common sense with a ‘can do’ attitude. A full clean driving licence is essential.
