Description This is a seasonal position at YMCA Camp Manitou Lin in Middleville, MI. The role begins April 15 and continues through October. POSITION SUMMARY The Grounds Maintenance Specialist assists with the safety, security, and general operation of YMCA Maintenance. This position requires hands on maintenance duties and the ability to work with project teams, trouble shoot mechanical problems, and work independently to effect repairs. Requirements include a good eye for cost effective solutions, ability to bid projects, weigh and assess costs and time requirements, superior interpersonal skills to assemble, direct, supervise and implement project teams to complete projects in a timely manner. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Complete basic preventative maintenance on equipment and general repairs and inspections; works with equipment warranties and vendor repair programs Work one 2nd shift per week, and one weekend on an occasional basis to allow access to areas not afforded during the open hours. Ensures policies and projects are adhered to at all times Assists with Horse care Supports and maintains professional rapport with members, vendors, and staff Performs minor and routine painting, plumbing, construction, and repair, as well as other related maintenance activities Hangs and mounts signage as needed Upholds all safety standards, MSDS documentation, and models Perform general grounds maintenance duties Assist with boat and dock prep and maintenance Assist with prepping sports fields and for outside events Operate grounds maintenance equipment Performs any other functions necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); one to two years grounds maintenance experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required. Working knowledge of building and ground cleanliness. Ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical problems. Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
