Your Passion: The Grounds Tech has the passion to serve the Lord through the work of your hands and help maintain the areas outside the church buildings. This includes walkways, parking lots, roadways, landscaped grounds, irrigation, fertilizing, pesticide applications, and grass maintenance. The Grounds Tech helps with the installation of plants, trees, grass, and the maintenance of landscaped grounds. Responsibilities will vary based on the type of work that will be needed to carry out the specific tasks. This will include using tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials to carry out those tasks. Work includes excavation, material handling, planting, and establishing irrigation to newly landscaped areas * Assist in the proper operation of irrigation systems. Work involves learning the layout and operation of existing systems and controls, installation of additional components, and on-going service of operating systems * Utilize various tools, equipment, and materials to accomplish the work. Assists with the service and proper care of tools and equipment. Responsible for assuring that these items are cleaned, serviced, and properly stored after each use * Receive work assignments from the Ground Manager and work with a team to accomplish goals * Provide training, instruction and leadership to others within the grounds maintenance team in proper work practices, operation of equipment and tools, and safe work methods * Participate in church workdays, special events and emergency situation You Have: * The ability to assist in leading others and serve as an example * Prior experience in the area of grounds maintenance, landscaping, irrigation, pesticide applications, athletic field maintenance * The ability to drive and maneuver landscape trailers to transport equipment * Pesticide application experience * Service, usage, and maintenance of lawn equipment experience * A Willingness and ability to perform physical work * Good organizational skills * Good interpersonal skills for relating effectively with staff, temporary employees, volunteers, and outside vendors * The ability to handle multiple tasks at one time * The ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments What you are required to know: * We are an EEO employer. * You may have to bend, sit or stand for prolonged periods of time, lift, pull, push and/or move up to 60 lbs. * This is a full-time TEMP (40 hours/week) hourly non-exempt position. * You may have to work evenings and/or weekends to assist with special events or emergencies.
