Description Our Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and safety of the outdoor spaces at the conference center. This role involves a variety of landscaping tasks such as mowing, planting, trimming, and maintaining lawns, gardens, parking lots, walkways, and outdoor event areas. The Groundskeeper will ensure that the grounds are aesthetically pleasing and well-kept to enhance the experience of guests, visitors, and staff. Our Groundskeepers help care for and maintain an outdoor environment that contributes to the Conference Center Mission: Impacting Lives for God’s Glory through Purposeful Hospitality! Weekend and Holidays required 1st Shift Responsibilities • Provides maintenance of lawns, gardens, outdoor event spaces, parking areas, and walkways to ensure cleanliness, safety, and aesthetic appeal. • Provides lawn care, including mowing, edging, fertilizing. • Ensure proper care and maintenance of shrubs, trees, flowers, and other plantings. • Operates equipment such as mowers, backpack blowers, trimmers, and other hand tools • Oversees trash and recycling pickup and disposal • Performs seasonal tasks such as snow removal in the winter, leaf collection in the fall, and spring/summer planting. • Completes other duties as assigned Requirements Education, Work Experience, and Other Qualifications • Must have a valid Drivers license (Required) • Must be approachable, reliable, and able to work well with others in maintaining the property. • Ability to see how work impacts overall guest experience • Must be diligent and dependable, ensuring all outdoor spaces are well-maintained and prepared for events, regardless of the scope or challenges. You should consistently demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and a commitment to quality work. • Previous landscaping or lawn care management experience • Comfortable with occasionally encountering wildlife (black bears, bees, snakes) • High School diploma or GED • Strong attention to detail in maintaining the appearance and safety of outdoor spaces. • Demonstrates a servant-heart by consistently prioritizing the needs of the team, the community, and the campus. Physical Demands and Work Environment • Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 60 pounds. Frequent handling of heavy items, such as equipment, furniture, and supplies. • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, as the role involves moving throughout the facility and performing hands-on tasks. • Ability to climb ladders, scaffolding, or work at heights when necessary for maintenance, repairs, or event set-up. • Manual Dexterity: Proficient use of hands for fine motor tasks, such as handling tools, adjusting equipment, or performing detailed repairs. • Must be able to work long hours, including standing, walking, and performing physical tasks continuously throughout the shift. • Must be comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor settings, and under varying temperatures and weather conditions. • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery required for maintenance tasks. • Must be able to bend, twist, and maneuver around equipment and obstacles in the workspace to complete tasks.
