Description Groundskeeper Canaan, CT About the position: Mountainside is looking for a skilled, highly motivated Groundskeeper to join our fast-paced Grounds team. This position plays a crucial role in making sure our Grounds are maintained to be pristine and esthetically pleasing fashion to meet Mountainside's best in class standards. Your role: Assisting other departments with heavy lifting and household maintenance when deemed necessary. Ensuring that proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is always worn while performing tasks. Assist with care and operation of mountainside garden and orchard. Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly tasks are being completed Ensure Mountainside Grounds are maintained in a pristine fashion within the Mountainside standards set forth by the design team in conjunction with Supervisor. Maintenance of gardens, pruning of trees, cutting grass, maintaining ball field, labyrinth, and Wellness assets such as the Voyager course. Ensure preventative maintenance is completed and documented on all grounds equipment. Conduct any equipment repairs. Notify the Supervisor if repairs need to be done by a contractor. Planting requests such as trees, shrubs, flowers, or gardens are done in accordance with Mountainside standards. Preform spring and fall cleanup of lawns, beds, and gardens. Meet with Lead Groundskeeper/Grounds manager daily to discuss department needs, projects and upcoming work. Support all Holiday Thematic decorations according to Mountainside playbook. Snow removal for all Mountainside properties Facilities and general handyman services as needed. Following the Mountainside Grounds Department Playbook when the Lead Grounds keeper or Grounds Manager is absent. What we’re looking for: A driven, goal-orientated person with attention to detail. Strong multitasking and organizational skills Comfortable with operating Grounds equipment such as mowers, trimmers and chainsaws, vehicles and tractors Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalency required Knowledge of Grounds keeping such as turf grass management, pruning and general shrub and tree care. Minimum of 2 years working in grounds or similar role. Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds and be able to spend long periods of time standing or walking. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Comfort in seeking advice, instruction when necessary. Intermediate facility with computer technology including email, research, and training platforms Must have a clean driving record and valid driver's license. Appropriate social and personal boundaries. Comfort and interest in working around persons with substance abuse disorder. Work independently and as a team member to help with departmental needs. Ability to get a DOT Health certificate for driving larger vehicles. Compensation: Compensation includes a base hourly rate of $20-$24, plus a performance based annual bonus.
