Description FLSA Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Reports To: Cemetery Manager Summary: Under appropriate supervision and/or designated direction groundskeepers are responsible for the preparation and completion of all funeral services, general maintenance and the upkeep of assigned cemetery. Groundskeepers will also complete the installation of memorials. Benefits: Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance Short and Long Term Disability Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Paid Time Off (Vacation Leave, Sick Leave, Paid Holidays/Holy Days) Pension and Retirement Plan Benefits will depend on location and employment status Requirements Position Responsibilities: Setup and tear down for services, including, but not limited to setting up of outdoor tents, operating backhoe as assigned, and lowering device/hydraulic lift and removal of headstones/crypt fronts Assists office staff with locating gravesites or issues with graves Assists backhoe operator as needed Completion of work orders Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures Preventive maintenance to include checking fluid levels, tire pressure level, cleaning after use Performs tasks common to the care of grounds and landscapes to include mowing, weed eating, pruning, watering Perform flower, decoration and trash pickup according to assigned cemetery schedule Perform preparation for services to include loading/unloading of funeral services trailers containing chairs, lowering devices, carpeting, large tents, poles, driving stakes and ropes Report and repair minor plumbing leaks Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self, others. Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information. Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory. Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings, as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Education sufficient to read, write and speak as needed for the job High school diploma or equivalent preferred Experience: Familiarity with maintenance tools and equipment General labor or grounds keeping experience preferred Experience operating heavy equipment such as a Backhoe is preferred License and Credentials: Reliable transportation Valid driver license Valid vehicle insurance Minimum Knowledge and Skills: Ability to work in extreme weather conditions Ability to work in tight and elevated spaces Must be detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, work well independently and on a team; Must have good written and verbal skills; Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
