Job Description American Iron & Metal (AIM) is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Groundsman to join our Rail Team on a rotational shift. In this role, you are responsible for providing safe and efficient rail car switching services working in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate must have a strong work ethic and great communication skills. What you're responsible for: Ensuring safe operation of the locomotive and train movements Ability to carry out specific instructions detailing a train’s route and specific movements Perform switching of railcars, including coupling and uncoupling cars, and is able to lift out coupling devices Signaling crew members for movement of the engine or train using a radio to indicate when to start, stop, back-up, set or release air brakes Having the ability to move on and off moving or stationary equipment while the train is in motion during yard switching Riding moving rail cars using the ladder on the side for extended amount of periods of time Qualifications You have previous experience as a groundsman OR working within a rail team is preferred You have excellent teamwork skills and clear communication You are physically fit including the ability to pull oneself up and down from a railcar continuously You are able to lift (50lbs+) and twist air hoses, secure rail car brakes, derails, and switches You are proactive with the ability to take action/assess a situation with teams safety paramount You are comfortable with physically demanding work in all-weather conditions Additional Information Hourly pay for this position is to start at CAD21.50/hr, plus overtime after 44 hours. Responsibilities
