Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Groundworker Apprentice to join our Market Homes division which is based in Lincoln. Reporting into the Site Managers, you will receive full training, support and guidance in all areas of Groundworks. Your role will include preparing sites for building work, laying foundations, installing drainage, and creating hard landscaping. You will working with our own trades and also sub contractors.
The 3 sites you will be working between are Waddington, Birchwood and Scothern so having a driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Health and Safety: Understanding and applying health, safety, and welfare principles and practices.
  • Technical Skills: Interpreting drawings and specifications, using hand and power tools, mixing concrete, and setting out.
  • Communication: Effectively communicating verbally, in writing, and through other means.
  • Problem-Solving: Identifying and resolving issues that arise during the construction process.
  • Teamwork: Working effectively with others and taking responsibility for one’s own work.
  • Time Management: Completing tasks efficiently and to schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Setting out and preparing sub-surfaces, digging trenches, and clearing the site of topsoil and debris.
  • Installing drainage and ducting systems, mixing and pouring concrete for foundations, slabs, and other structures.
  • Laying paving, kerbs, and other features for paths, driveways, and other areas.
  • Installing ironwork, locating and exposing buried utilities, and providing temporary works support.
  • Working safely and securely in compliance with health, safety, and welfare legislation, including procedures for contaminated ground.
  • Selecting, using, and maintaining tools and equipment, including power tools and setting-out equipment.
  • Working effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other tradespeople, following instructions and contributing to a safe and productive environment.
